Ivonne and Anthony dated for two weeks before he broke the news that he had enlisted as a Corpsman in the Navy and would be leaving for in two weeks for boot camp. Despite the hurried beginning, they were married two years later right before Anthony left for Iraq. They were married in May 2005, right before his first deployment to Iraq. When he returned, they took their honeymoon and started planning a family. Ivonne found out she was pregnant just as Anthony was leaving for his second deployment to Iraq. Three months into his tour, Ivonne received the news that Anthony was alive but severely injured. The injuries have left Anthony non-communicative, wheelchair-bound, and in need of constant care. Ivonne continues to care for her husband, still hoping that he improved, but she is realistic that this may be as good as it gets.
