Washington, D.C. – The Elizabeth Dole Foundation is delighted to welcome Carol Lindamood Harlow to serve as Executive Director. Senator Elizabeth Dole, the Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, announced Harlow’s selection following an extensive national search.

Harlow will focus on building the Foundation’s capacity to support the military and veteran caregiver cause, assuming oversight of strategic priorities and responsibility for day to day operations. She is transitioning from Malibu, California where she served most recently as Assistant Vice Chancellor of Pepperdine University School of Law. Prior to her role at Pepperdine, Harlow spent many years in the D.C. region serving as Chief Development Officer for the National Museum of the United States Army Campaign. In that role she led fundraising efforts for a $200 million capital campaign.

“Carol brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and passion for the military and veteran caregiver cause to this important leadership role,” Dole said. “I look forward to working closely with her to support the countless caregivers tending to our wounded warriors and to raise awareness of their enormous challenges and responsibilities.”

The recruitment of Harlow comes at an important time for the Foundation as it works to complete important actionable research with RAND Corporation on the needs of military and veteran caregivers, and following its successful inaugural Military and Veterans Caregiver Week. During its first year, in addition to the RAND research, the Foundation has worked to raise awareness and support for these caregivers, has awarded Innovation Grants to three top ranked nonprofit organizations serving caregivers, and has welcomed 20 caregivers from across America as Foundation Fellows.
