Memorial Day Message from Senator Elizabeth Dole

Memorial Day Message from Senator Elizabeth Dole
hidden heroes

Memorial Day is a time for our nation to honor, mourn and reflect upon the millions of men and women who have made the most personal and ultimate sacrifice on behalf of our nation. Today, gold stars, poppies, crosses and wreathes will adorn our nation’s memorials, parades and cemeteries to represent those we lost. For our military and veteran caregivers, wounded warriors, and all those closely tied to our nation’s military, Memorial Day is particularly significant, as we remember the individual faces, names and personal stories of the fallen service members we knew and loved. Though weeks, years and even generations may have passed since we lost these heroes, I know from the many Saturday mornings I’ve spent with my husband, Bob, at the National WWII Memorial, our memories of the loved ones and friends taken by war never fades. We carry them with us in our hearts and minds for the rest of our lives.
