Announcing the Elizabeth Dole Foundation’s New Executive Director

Announcing the Elizabeth Dole Foundation’s New Executive Director
Steve Schwab

As we approach year’s end, I want to express my deepest gratitude to each of you for your generosity in supporting the Foundation and America’s military and veteran caregivers.  Together, we are making progress in raising awareness and support for our Hidden Heroes.  But, as you know, we have much more to do!

As the Foundation prepares to chart the course ahead, let me share a transition in the organization’s leadership.  My heartfelt thanks to our Executive Director, Carol Lindamood Harlow, for the tremendous work she has accomplished since joining us in early 2013.  Under her tenure we released the Hidden Heroes: America’s Military Caregivers study conducted by the RAND Corporation and initiated a national coalition in a call to action at the White House hosted by First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden.  Carol has since made the very personal decision to step down as Executive Director to work part-time in order to spend more time with her young son, Chase, in this last year before he starts school.  We are grateful that Carol has agreed to remain part of the Foundation family through the transition and into the New Year.

At this time, I am extremely pleased to announce our new Executive Director, Steve Schwab. Steve has worked closely with me on shaping the strategy and impact of the Foundation. With proven results that span his years as a leader in the nonprofit, governmental and civic sectors, Steve will provide direction and guidance to achieve ongoing, sustainable, positive outcomes in the lives of military and veteran caregivers.  He has given critical leadership to national organizations through times of transformation and growth and he is very passionate about creating direct impact in the lives of military caregivers.

Additionally, I am delighted to share with you that Lindi Harvey will serve as the Foundation’s Senior Director of Programs, overseeing our national coalition of partners and the annual celebration of Month of the Military Caregiver.  Lindi has a tremendous background in government, corporate sector and nonprofit leadership and has contributed appreciably to the Foundation’s accomplishments to date.

And that’s not all.  To prepare for the work ahead, we’ve added two new members to our team: Pavel Sullivan joins us as Director of Development and Pamela Hairston will be our new Operations Administrator.

Together, we will help ensure that the spouses, mothers, fathers, and other loved ones who care for our nation’s wounded warriors receive the support they deserve.  I look forward to working with each of you in the months and years ahead.

With warmest best wishes to you and your family this holiday season
