Signing of Pennsylvania as a Hidden Heroes Commonwealth 

The Hidden Heroes Cities and Counties Program is a growing network of cities, counties, and states working to find local solutions to better serve military and veteran caregivers. To date nearly 200 cities, counties, and states have taken the pledge to raise awareness, encourage self-identification and increase support for hidden heroes in their communities. Pennsylvanian joins us as our 204th Hidden Hero community!

The Elizabeth Dole Foundation hosted our Annual Hidden Heroes Cities and Counties Summit. This event celebrated, recognized, and engaged our 200+ committed Hidden Heroes Cities, Counties, and States. The event convened city, county, and state leaders for an update on the progress of the Hidden Heroes program over the last year and showcase what’s ahead for the program.

February 21 & 22, 2023

Malcom X College | In-Person & Virtual | Chicago

The City Colleges of Chicago hosted a two-day symposium to introduce a first-of-its-kind four-week comprehensive, accredited course for caregivers of veterans, police, fire, first-responders, and trauma victims in Chicago. During the symposium, the Foundation presented and shared caregiver experiences to inspire other hidden heroes to seek and receive critical support that is provided through courses like this. Spearheaded by local VA leaders and universities in Chicago, the goal is to replicate this initiative in other cities and states long term.

The Elizabeth Dole Foundation presents our latest C3 (Caregiver Community Connection) episode, an interactive web series that aims to empower, inspire, and engage America’s military, veteran, and family caregivers. Powered by Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP), C3 seeks to educate caregivers about tools, resources, and strategies to help them thrive; combat isolation in the caregiver community by leveraging a platform that encourages peer connection; and provide uplifting content that promotes positivity and gives caregivers an opportunity to recharge.

This episode will focus on financial wellness and literacy to set caregivers on a path toward success and stability.

The Elizabeth Dole Foundation is proud to announce our inaugural National Cabinet series, First to Know featuring MSNBC Host, and former White House Press Secretary, Jen Psaki. Psaki will participate in a lively discussion on the role of the media in politics, caregiving, and the state of the country. We are also excited to announce the discussion moderator, Michael Steel. 

With her show set to launch this spring, Psaki adds a unique perspective from her first-hand experience at the highest levels of government. She is a principal voice in the network’s primetime coverage of major political events and as press secretary was lauded by the Associated Press as a communicator who “dug deep into policy, seeking an understanding that goes far beyond talking points”.

National Cabinet Event – Embassy of Qatar

Elizabeth Dole Foundation’s National Cabinet presents, An Evening with Sheikh Meshal bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatar’s Ambassador to the United States. It’s our honor to join with the Embassy of the State of Qatar in the United States to celebrate military and veteran families.
