2025 Dole Caregiver Fellow David Meyer of Colorado cares for his husband, Donny, who developed Gulf War Syndrome following his service in the Marine Corps. Motivated by Donny’s struggle to secure VA benefits, David returned to law school and now runs a Denver law practice dedicated exclusively to veterans’ disability claims. He also volunteers with a pro bono legal clinic for veterans, handling about 14 disability cases himself each year.
