WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Elizabeth Dole Foundation today announced that Jodi Sheedy has joined the organization as its new Chief Communications Officer.
Sheedy brings more than 16 years of communications leadership experience at the American Red Cross, where she led national communications strategy across major mission delivery areas, including Blood Services, Disaster Response, Training, International Services, and support to the Armed Forces community. In addition to guiding enterprise-wide campaign strategy, she oversaw internal communications for more than 18,000 employees.
In her new role, Sheedy will lead the Foundation’s communications strategy and help strengthen national awareness of the 14.3 million military and veteran caregivers who support service members and veterans facing complex health challenges. At a time when more than 100 million Americans are caring for loved ones with chronic conditions, disabilities, or age-related needs, she will help position military and veteran caregivers within the broader national caregiving movement and advance the Foundation’s vision of an America where all caregivers and the people they care for thrive.
“Jodi is a strategic communications leader who understands how to translate mission into national momentum,” said Steve Schwab, CEO of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation. “As we expand our reach, deepen our partnerships, and push for lasting change on behalf of military and veteran caregivers, we need a leader who can help shape the national conversation. Jodi brings the experience, discipline, and creativity to strengthen this movement and position the Foundation for even greater national impact.”
“I am honored to lead the Elizabeth Dole Foundation’s communications efforts, elevating the voices of military and veteran caregivers at this pivotal moment of growing national visibility of the demands that caregiving places on so many Americans,” said Jodi Sheedy, Chief Communications Officer at the Elizabeth Dole Foundation. “Communications has the unique ability to build a foundation of connection and community-building. Working alongside caregivers, I look forward to sharing stories that inspire our deeply human responsibility to one another.”
Sheedy joins the Foundation at a time of continued growth and national momentum as it expands its programs, partnerships, and advocacy efforts to empower military and veteran caregivers and reach its vision of an America where all caregivers and the people they care for thrive.
