2026 Dole Caregiver Fellow Shannon Shimer from Belfast, Maine writes about her experience advocating on behalf of our nation's military and veteran caregivers on Capitol Hill during this year's Fellows Week, and shares the importance of passing the CHAMPVA Children's Care Protection Act and the Veteran Caregiver Re-education, Re-employment, and Retirement Act, both of which will greatly benefit caregivers nationwide.
