Washington, DC (July 31, 2025) - Today, the Elizabeth Dole Foundation (EDF) announced the election of Joyce Giuffra—prominent philanthropist, arts advocate, and communications leader—to its Board of Directors.

Giuffra began her career in national politics, serving in the White House Office of Media Relations under President George H.W. Bush and later as Deputy Press Secretary to Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole. She played a key communications leadership role as Director of Communications for the Dole-Kemp 1996 presidential campaign and served in a leadership role for Elizabeth Dole’s 2000 presidential campaign. In the private sector, she served as Director of Corporate Affairs at Burson-Marstellar, a global public relations firm.

“As a former employee of Senator Elizabeth and the beloved Senator Bob, Joyce's addition to the Elizabeth Dole Foundation Board of Directors is somewhat of a homecoming for both her and us,” said Steve Schwab, CEO of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation. “We are so proud to continue our close relationship with Joyce, and we are deeply grateful to her for bringing her wealth of experience to our work, directly impacting our nation’s hidden heroes and their families.”

Giuffra joins the Foundation’s current board, chaired by Secretary Robert McDonald.

About the Elizabeth Dole Foundation

The Elizabeth Dole Foundation is the preeminent organization empowering, supporting, and honoring our nation’s 14.3 million military and veteran caregivers—the spouses, parents, family members, and friends—who care for America’s wounded, ill, or injured service members and veterans at home. Founded by Senator Elizabeth Dole in 2012, the Foundation adopts a comprehensive approach in its support and advocacy, working with leaders in the public, private, nonprofit, and faith communities to recognize military caregivers’ service and support their well-being. The Foundation’s Hidden Heroes Campaign public awareness campaign brings vital attention to the untold stories of military caregivers and provides a network for these caregivers to connect with their peers and access carefully vetted resources.
