Susan Borden

Susan Borden serves as the Director ofCorporate and Foundation Relations at the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, where she works closely with philanthropic partnerships that advance the Foundation’s mission to support America’s military caregivers. With nearly two decades of experience in institutional advancement, she brings a deep understanding of foundation giving and strategic relationship-building to her role.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Susan worked in Advancement at her alma mater, St. John’s College, where she led efforts to secure and sustain major foundation support. Her tenure also included several years in donor relations, where she focused on strengthening engagement with the College’s broader philanthropic community.

Susan is passionate about the power of partnership, viewing collaboration between the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors as essential to the health and impact of both. She brings a personal commitment to caregiving to her work at the Foundation. As the mother of a child with type 1 diabetes, she spent over a decade managing the demands of chronic illness, including nightly blood sugar checks. This lived experience has deepened her respect for caregivers and fuels her dedication to supporting those who serve our nation’s hidden heroes.
