How did your life change when you became a caregiver?
Becoming a caregiver turned our world upside down. What used to be shared responsibilities became mine alone, and my daily routine shifted from work and parenting to managing appointments, therapies, and advocating for my husband's care. Every plan we had, from career goals to retirement dreams, had to be reimagined. Life became less predictable, but it also became deeply rooted in purpose as we figured out this new normal together.
How do you maintain your own well-being?
My faith ultimately grounds me. I pour myself into creative projects that feed my spirit and prioritize moments of peace, whether that’s journaling, or quiet time with God. I also create content through our platform, The Honeymoonerz, where my husband and I share videos that encourage healthy relationships, joy, fun, and travel. Creating together helps me stay grounded and reminds us both that there is still so much life to be lived.
What advice would you give to other military and veteran caregivers?
You're doing better than you think. Seasons do change and some are better or worse, but they do change! Give yourself grace, accept help when it's offered, and don't forget, you still get to dream, laugh, and live fully, too.
