Elizabeth Dole Foundation Statement on Recent Middle East Military Operations

March 6, 2026

The Elizabeth Dole Foundation extends its deepest condolences to those who have lost loved ones in recent military operations in the Middle East, especially the families and friends of U.S. service members who are now carrying the weight of that loss. Our hearts are with them as they navigate an unimaginable sacrifice.

As the situation continues to unfold with Iran, many service members remain in harm’s way. For military and veteran families, particularly the caregivers who support wounded, ill, or injured veterans, moments like this can reopen old wounds and create deep uncertainty about what may come next.

Many in our community have already carried the long-term consequences of war. Veterans and caregivers know better than most that the impact of military service does not end when the fighting stops. In times of renewed conflict, those memories and responsibilities can feel especially heavy.

Even in the face of that uncertainty, military and veteran caregivers continue to do what they have always done—quietly providing strength, stability, and care for the people they love. Their devotion sustains families, strengthens communities, and reflects the extraordinary spirit of service that defines this nation.

To every caregiver and military family who may be feeling the weight of this moment: we see you, we stand with you, and you are not alone. The Elizabeth Dole Foundation remains committed to supporting our community and ensuring that caregivers have the resources, connection, and recognition they deserve.

Resources, including mental wellness tools, critical financial assistance, and opportunities for community connection and peer support, are available at hiddenheroes.org.
