Washington, D.C. (May 12, 2025) – The Elizabeth Dole Foundation announced the latest additions to its 10th Annual National Convening on Military and Veteran Caregiving, taking place on May 20 at 10 a.m. at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C. The Convening is open, in-person and virtual, to organizations and experts in the areas of caregiving and veteran support, corporate and philanthropic sponsors of caregiving and military causes, and to caregivers of service members and veterans. Advanced registration is required.

U.S. Senator David McCormick and The Honorable Dina Powell McCormick will have a conversation facilitated by former USAA CEO Wayne Peacock on mentoring and leadership applied to caregiving and public service, informed by insights from their book Who Believed in You: How Purposeful Mentorship Changes the World. They will join Secretary of Veterans Affairs Doug Collins who was previously announced as the event’s keynote speaker. The Secretary will recognize the value of caregivers to America’s veterans and affirm how the VA will increase its support of caregivers in the Veterans Health Administration.

This year’s theme, “A Blueprint for Action: Mapping the Future of Caregiving in a Changing World” will mobilize top leaders, experts, and advocates around the dynamic environment affecting caregivers and real-world strategies for creating a future in which caregivers thrive. The event will be organized around the groundbreaking findings of the Foundation’s 2024 study conducted by RAND, America’s Military & Veteran Caregivers: Hidden Heroes Emerging from the Shadows.

For the first time, the Convening will feature international voices to explore how different cultures around the world support military and veteran caregivers. Alexandra Drane, co-founder of ARCHANGELS, the platform reframing how caregivers are seen, honored, and supported, will deliver an inspiring address on the importance of recognizing and uplifting America’s caregivers.

“As historic trends in caregiving begin to collide with unprecedented change and uncertainty, the need to bring together the brightest minds and most innovative thinkers on these issues has never been more urgent,” said Steve Schwab, CEO, Elizabeth Dole Foundation.

Media must RSVP by Thursday, May 15, 10 a.m., by contacting Tessa Miller, tessa@elizabethdolefoundation.org.
