Allyson is a Kansan through and through. Born and raised there, it’s also where she met Benjamin Bowers. An infantryman with multiple deployments to Iraq, Benjamin was diagnosed with PTSD after returning home in 2011. Now Allyson assists Benjamin with the challenges of daily living. From driving him to doctors’ appointments to filling prescriptions to being his emotional and mental health counselor, Allyson is there to support Benjamin. She has found strength in talking with other Military Caregivers and now volunteers to help others like her.
