WASHINGTON – After the 2014 release of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation commissioned RAND study that uncovered the gaps in support facing America’s 5.5 million military and veteran caregivers, the Foundation will launch seven Impact Councils at this week’s Hidden Heroes Impact Forum to address the most urgent concerns of those caring for wounded, ill and injured warriors. Based on recommendations from the RAND study, each council will focus on one of the following areas:

The councils will bring together experts and organizations renowned for their accomplishments in the seven impact areas. Many participants have already initiated caregiver support programs as members of the Foundation’s Hidden Heroes coalition, launched last spring. Event host and chief facilitator, Booz Allen Hamilton, will guide the council discussions. The forum will also include remarks from Senator Elizabeth Dole and panel discussions with caregivers and service providers.
The goal of the event will be to produce purposeful, organized, evidence-based, and forward-thinking strategies that members of the growing national coalition can execute in the months and years to come.
The first report of the coalition’s progress will come later this spring, as part of the Foundation’s Hidden Heroes Coalition Summit 2015: Progress and Promise.
